Fat Cat...

"Fat Cat Fat Cat Sitting on the Door Matt... "
(This is the rhyme the kids used to taunt me with when I was in year one.)

As many people who know me will tell you I have an impeccable memory, and I can remember almost every single insult, comment and snicker directed at me or said behind my back about my weight/height and size.

It's really hard being a 'larger' than normal child growing up... Not that I was really big when I was younger it's just I was bigger than the others. In height I towered over the other kids at school and have always been a 'big solid girl' so my mother would say....

As a adult last year I was a 'very fat cat' and I faced a big dilemma.... clothing.

I reached the top.... size. (ever) in the store.. and I was just struggling to squeeze into the few items I could gather together in the 'shame area' of the department store.. 'the fat girls section'. (where no normal person wants to be seen).

I hated clothes shopping but loved clothes.. and have always dreamt of beautiful dresses to wear.

Two days ago I needed to do some last minute shopping, my fiance's work is paying for us to fly up to Mackay for a work dinner. The hotel and flights are booked everything is set yet........... nothing to wear.. no dress to impress...! This is the first time I will be meeting allot of my fiance's work mates and his boss, I want to look the best I can for both him and I. I want to look beautiful for my man just like any other girl.

I rushed off to the shops after work yet have had no luck in my typical 'fat girls' clothing sections... the shop is bare. not a dress in sight, at least not one that you would wear to a dinner occasion. I was feeling pretty down I even had bought a new necklace the weekend before expecting to match it with a pretty black something dress.

Out of desperation I walked into a store I would never buy at... It's known for its sometimes bad quality of clothing.. as I walked into this store they had LOTS OF DRESSES!! lol!!!! Yet all the dresses my size had already been bought.... as each store only usually stocks one of these in the largest sizes usually it's a fight to get it first. there was one nice little black dress.. similar to what I was looking for - and it's something that would go really well with my new necklace.. BUT.... it was 3 sizes smaller than the usual size I would try to squeeze into.

I thought I would just 'give it a try' and see how it goes... much to my delight!!!! it FITS!!!!!.. not only does it fit.... it looks great!!!!! not only does it fit, look great ... BUT........ its also half price!!!!!!!! lucky or what....!!!

Good bye potato sack dress....
